A comprehensive, client-side barcode generation and scanning suite that supports standard linear 1D barcodes, GS1 checksum verification, and vector SVG/PNG exports without server uploads.
Barcodes are ubiquitous optical data carriers used worldwide across retail point-of-sale systems, warehouse logistics, pharmaceutical packaging, library management, and supply chain tracking. Generating crisp, mathematically compliant barcode graphics is essential for reliable scanning across optical laser scanners, flatbed imagers, and mobile cameras.
ReducerImage features pure in-browser synthesis powered by JsBarcode and native BarcodeDetector APIs. All barcode rendering, GS1 Modulo-10 check digit math, and camera image decoding execute 100% locally in your web browser.
Overview of standard barcode formats, encodable character sets, and primary industry use cases.
| Format Standard | Data Length & Characters | Industry & Primary Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Code 128 | Variable length · All 128 ASCII chars | Logistics, Shipping Labels, Asset Tracking |
| EAN-13 | Fixed 13 numeric digits (12 + check) | International Retail Point-of-Sale Products |
| UPC-A | Fixed 12 numeric digits (11 + check) | North American POS Supermarket & Retail |
| Code 39 | Variable alphanumeric (A-Z, 0-9, symbols) | Automotive, Defense, Healthcare ID Badges |
| ITF-14 | Fixed 14 numeric digits (13 + check) | Corrugated Shipping Master Cartons & Cases |
Optical laser scanners and CMOS camera imagers require a clean, unprinted border around the barcode called the Quiet Zone (at least 10 times the width of the narrowest bar). Placing text, logos, or packaging borders too close to the bars causes decoding failures. Furthermore, black bars on a pure white background offer the maximum optical reflectance ratio for 100% first-pass scan accuracy.
Our client-side barcode generator and scanner workflow executes in four synchronized steps:
Checks format-specific character constraints and computes official GS1 Modulo-10 check digits.
Translates data characters into standardized binary bar-and-space sequence tables.
Constructs crisp SVG rect tags with customizable bar widths, heights, colors, and text labels.
Processes uploaded image pixels or live camera feeds via BarcodeDetector for instant decoding.
Follow this simple workflow to generate and verify barcodes for any project.
Select Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, or Code 39.
Type product digits or alphanumeric code data.
Adjust bar width scaling and height sliders.
Select dark bar and light background colors.
Show or hide human-readable text underneath.
Export pure vector SVG or high-DPI raster PNG.
Upload any barcode photo to decode content.
Use your device camera to scan physical codes.
